I first got into The Queen Is Dead many years ago. I first began my long adventure with The Smiths back in 1998. I was eight years old and my dad let me listen to a mix tape. Honestly, that's where it first started. But at 14 years old I wanted to venture out. So I bought any Smiths album I could get my hands on. What The Queen Is Dead means to me is better times in my life. It has some very emotional ballets. The first song that really struck me was "I Know it's Over." It really pulled heart strings. It really changed the way I heard The Smiths. The Queen Is Dead was such a strong album. It became iconic to me during rough times. The Queen Is Dead had songs I could really deep down relate with. I think the message was strong on The Queen is dead. The band could say what they felt about the Royal family. During the 1980s, it was a very bold move. I really have the respect for this album because of that. Not very many artist at the time did things like that. I Think The Queen Is Dead opened a new way to link pop music with politics. The Queen is dead was also one of the first vinyls by The Smiths I owned. It means a lot to me just for that. But all these reasons support what The Queen Is Dead means to me as Smiths fan today.
