The Queen is Dead was the album that started my life-long love of literature. Morrissey's whimsical wails in "Cemetry Gates", about Keats, and Yeats with Wilde on his side was enough to make any girl dye her hair black and run to the local library. Which is exactly what I did. The black hair has long since faded, but the love of literature continues to grow. I have no doubt, that without Morrissey and Marr, I would have never discovered the "loves and hates and passions" of the books that continue to inspire me. And, for that, I am forever grateful. |
