I first heard "The Queen Is Dead" at a friend's house and it immediately blew me away, from the pending toms on "The Queen Is Dead" to the fade in and out intro of "Some girls are bigger than others".

Johnny Marr's jangling guitar and arrangements are the perfect compliment to the most literate, ironic set of lyrics from Morrisey. It is an album that will be round for another 30 years and more. It is so well balanced, and I constantly refer back to it after I record with my band "Strangers in paradise". If someone was to buy one Smiths album this is the one that perhaps best defines the most influential and enduring British bands of the last 30 years.
