The Queen Is Dead, Long Live Johnny Marr!

Favourite track: 'Vicar In A Tutu'

The Queen is Dead is that most rare of albums. Like a good friend, you grow into it, seeing further meaning as time passes. But it never gets old, never gets stale no matter how many times you hear it. It is the sound of a generation defining band at its most self knowing and audacious. The manifestation of kitchen sink English realism. An ode to a country and people much loved but in the grips of servitude to an outdated ideal of monarchy and to a government who had been shown to be uncaring and self serving. As though calling for revolution and tradition simultaneously.
