The Queen Is Dead, Long Live Johnny Marr!

Favourite track: 'Vicar In A Tutu'

The Queen Is Dead signifies all the great things about Johnny’s playing as well as the band as a whole. It encompasses all the attitude and underlying influences of the band in one record in which the other previous records and Strangeways did not do. If approached by a hoard of aliens from a planet very far away and asked "well then, what are you Earthlings on about with this Smiths lot"? I’d shove a pair of headphones in them green ear-holes and put on The Queen Is Dead till they understood. I think what I love about the record so much is how there is a mixture of songs that makes you get rowdy with your mates and sing at the top of your lungs two in the morning and songs that make you stare at your wall and become introspective.
