Favourite track: 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out'

When you come across an album that captures almost every emotion that exits, you just never let it go. That's exactly what happened to me 20 years ago, when I bought my first copy of The Queen is Dead by The Smiths, which I still own. It clarified me that The Smiths was "my band". Their songs talk to me, talk about me, like they are my best friends and my safe place, where I can laugh out loud (Frankly Mr. Shankly, Vicar in a Tutu), pour my heart out with the saddest songs in the world (I Know It's Over, Never Had No One Ever), let all the rage out (The Queen Is Dead, Cemetery Gates) , do nothing but daydreaming (Some Girls Are Bigger than Others) and seek comfort and a big hug (The Boy With The Thorn In His Side, There's A Light That Never Goes Out). Alongside with the perfect combination of lyrics (Morrissey) and music (Marr), these are the reasons why The Queens Is Dead is a masterpiece, a life changing event, a sacred place that is safe and locked deep in the heart forever.
