Inspiration: "I remember reading an interview with Johnny and he explained the meaning behind the song. Each pic has some inspiration from his appreciation of being European."

Inspiration: "The inspiration behind this is espresso coffee ( my Italian roots ) but drunk in the Netherlands....so very European."

Inspiration: "I have decided to use the line "Now there is no going back" from the song as inspiration. The meaning of the song is after Johnny Marr had been living in America for several years he realised how proud he was of being European and wanted to come back. This is where the line I gained inspiration from comes in, behind him the train tracks and background are all unfocused purposely as this is representing American, the place he has left, it is his past and "there is no going back", in front of him everything is sharper, more clear and he is looking directly forward to where he wants to be. Behind him there is a slight glow for 2 reasons, this is to make him stand out and to remind us that he is a godlike genius. The choice of photo was based on the idea of travelling from America to Europe and this made it easy to symbolise his past in the train tracks. The logo is the typical Johnny Marr logo with European Me being rotated, this forces the person looking at the cover to adjust to read it and therefore it will stick in their minds more, it is a slightly different font than the logo to again make it stand out slightly against it and features a very small white glow to look bolder from the background."

Inspiration: "I really like Johnny's look and style, so I wanted to feature pictures of him but in a more ellaborated way. I tried a couple of different illustration styles based on some photographs and I choose the colors by looking at Johnny's usual clothes when he performs (I really like those shades of blue combined with black)."

Inspiration: "I picked to create my cover like this as the single is called European Me, I thought I'd try and incorporate something todo with Europe in the design."

Inspiration: "I decided to make the cover as I did because it's a simple design but simple in the sense of no too little, but not too much, simple and effective."

Submitted by James Ratcliffe

Inspiration: "I wanted to do something unique but also quite retro and vintage in reflecting the song."

Inspiration: "Well, for one, I thought Johnny just looked really cool in this photo. Then I thought the train line symbolised travelling (across Europe), with his guitar on tour!"

Inspiration: "I wanted to play on the "European" part with the stars, that was my initial thought, and so dictated the blue background, I also looked at Johnny's covers, and the border around the photograph theme is quite strong, so I thought I would carry that through with the design. I could have used a colour version of the photo, or I could have coloured it through in blue, as homage to Smiths covers, but decided on following Johnny's recent designs, albeit with a slight twist with the stars logo."

Inspiration: "I remember an interview once where Johnny said he didn't like 'heavy metal culture', he said instead of a Harley, he'd prefer a good scooter. So here's a photo from the Daily Mail."
